Bombay Show Pig is a band with only two members (Linda van Leeuwen & Mathias Janmaart), what you would never expect until you see them live on stage. I has that chance at TweeTakt festival in Utrecht. For the album there are some additional musicians, but i highly recommend to see them live!
The album starts with the single „Sancho Panza“, you get the full sound directly.
„You come from Hollywood – My name is Sancho Panza“ is the first line and this (inner) dialogue is continued up to „who is the vulture and who the provider?“, so the title giving line for the album. The answer is simple: „There’s no need to know“.
For this song there is also a video available – enjoy it!
They are sound, full sound. But always with highlights, with melodies that are spheric above this fat pure sound.
A good sample is the second track: Shackle and Chains.
Track three starts with a duet singing part – but in a strange and hard harmony as if they do not want to sound good together. They create this tension in the verses, to be even more harmonic in the chorus – a wonderful contrast in „On A Plane“! But at the same time the chorus is floating (comparable to Air)
And the album continues in this: change of fat sound, nice and interesting harmonies, hard singing versus nice sweet tones. And this richness is what I like about it. United again in (the short) song number four: „Heart In A Headlock“.
What I also like is that they sound so familiar, though they are new. It feels as if they have an universal sound that easily reaches me.
You should listen to the album in the correct order of the songs if you hear it the first times. They add up to each other.
So go and get the CD (or LP/Vinyl) and best is to see them live!
